Do you say yes?

During a boat ride on the San Francisco Bay I had a magical experience. I love how the Universe orchestrates amazing things. On the boat I happened to sit down next to a woman named Kellie who I immediately struck up a conversation with. I could feel Kellie’s energy before we even started talking. As we exchanged energy and conversation Kellie shared that in celebration of her 40th birthday she celebrated in a unique way. In honor of her birthday, she made a 40 day challenge. During her 40 day challenge she committed to saying yes to all new things that came her way. During her 40 day celebration, Kelli tried new experiences, ate new food, and met new people just to name a few things. Kellie shared that the experience was amazing. It caused her to grow and expand in new ways. The act of saying yes opened her to opportunities that she would have missed experiencing without the commitment to say yes.

My encounter with Kellie made me ponder how many women in our sisterhood could benefit from the lesson Kellie learned during her 40 day experience. It’s easy in life to get in routines and find yourself doing the same things over and over. It’s easy to get comfortable with those routines and close yourself down to new experiences.

Are there areas of your life where you are stuck in a routine? Are you missing out of expanding yourself and experiencing all that life is presenting to you because you are in those routines?

Doing the same routines creates a comfort zone and when you live your life within the confines of your comfort zone, you are limiting your experiences. Stepping out of your daily routine and going beyond your comfort zone doesn’t have to be hard or intense. It just takes a commitment. Kellie chose to celebrate her 40th birthday with 40 days of commitment. Today I encourage you to one week of being aware of your routines and comfort zone. I encourage you to follow Kellie’s lead and for 1 week say yes to the opportunities that life presents to you. One week of commitment to embracing opportunities has the potential to create space in your life for amazing things to happen!

What could you say yes to this week that will be a new experience to expand you? Have you experienced expansion in the past when you opened yourself up to new things because you said yes to an experience? Share your experiences and insights with our sisterhood. We all learn and grow together when we share!
