Elections over & I’m taking a stand

I’m writing this article on election night here in the United States.  As you read that you may feel the hair on the back of your neck stand up or you may feel a knot in your stomach.  Please bear with me, I promise I’m not going to take sides or ask you to.  The polls haven’t closed yet and I don’t know who is going to be our next president.

This isn’t the first time I have gotten to participate in an election.  While I am blessed to have had the right to vote in many elections, this one feels very different to me.  It feels different because instead of watching the polls or rooting for a leader to win the election, I’m sitting in my living room alone right now, holding a point of love, light and hope.  Why is that how I’m spending election night?  Because it feels like the very best contribution I can make right now.

There’s been a lot happening around our election and it hasn’t been pretty.

I recently had a sister from our sisterhood share how she lost connection with a group she considered to be her friends because she took a different political stance than the group.

The biggest contribution to my Nextdoor app, which designed to bring us together in community, for the last couple days has been posts about stealing political signs…from both parties.

I overheard a heated conversation the other day between two people who were upset about “the mud flinging” from all candidates.  They were upset about the negative energy between candidates and yet they were sharing negative energy being upset about it.

So here I am, holding a point of love, light and hope.  That’s what I choose to do today and I’ll do it again tomorrow.  I chose love, light and hope over everything else that is being brought up all around me.

And so, can you!

There has been so much negative around us.  Somewhere along the way this has become the way it works.  Then the way it works in that negative has taken on a life of its own and it’s been growing and spreading.

Well tonight I’m choosing something else.  I’m choosing to hold the point of light, to send positive energy into the world and to hold on to hope that there are better times ahead.  We are a sisterhood of 171,000+ strong and powerful women.  If everyone in our sisterhood around the world would take just one breath with the same intention of focusing on the positive, there would be a lot more love, light & hope in the world.  You and me, we get to choose.  I choose love, the light and hope.

What do you choose?

Share your thoughts and feelings about focusing on the positive and our power to bring more of it into the world with our sisterhood.  We all learn and grow together when we share.
