I’m finishing up day 5 of a juice cleanse. I recently had someone ask me how I can go for 5 days without any food. The person who asked assumed the process to be torturous and agonizing for me. They asked if I craved my favorite foods or being around someone else eating made me obsess about the food I wasn’t getting to eat.
None of that is true. I do a 5 day juice cleanse about once every 3 months and it’s a sacred time for me. Not only is there no struggle or agonizing for me, I really enjoy the experience. Here’s why. I ask a lot of my body and these 5 days are all about honoring my body. My juice cleanse is about my health and for 5 days I focus on the fact that there is nothing more important than my health.
How you view your world is a choice. You have the power to view it anyway you want. You can choose to focus on what you don’t have or you can choose to focus on what you have and what you want. My secret to loving my juice cleanse experience is to focus on what I want, rather than what I can’t have. For 5 days I have a choice, I can focus on not having food or I can focus on improving my health and honoring my body. When I focus on the food I can’t have I feel deprived and if I let it, that feeling will consume me. When I focus on my health, not only do I not feel deprived, I feel excited about taking care of and honoring myself.
This is a small paradigm shift, just a slight difference in how I choose to look at things, but it is a really powerful one. This paradigm shift applies to everything. If you focus on what you can’t have it consumes you with negative energy, when you focus on what you want it also consumes you but with positive energy.
Take a minute and make a list of all the places in your life this can apply to. Are you focusing on what you can’t have or what you want? There are so many applications. When you focus on what you want, everything becomes easier. The world looks different. It’s a powerful way for you to accomplish all that you want!
