Why a Sisterhood?

In the last blog I wrote about my dream for In Power Sisterhood. As I was rereading that blog I realized that when I first had this vision I wasn’t so clear on the direction. I knew I wanted to spread love, light, hope and positive energy but that was the extent of my vision. One of the first exercises I had to do in moving from my vision into creating the sisterhood was to identify who was the ideal person for the community. In the beginning I was not clear who I wanted to reach.

As I began to evolve my vision, my heart began to open to the depths of what I wanted to create. As my heart opened I relied more on it to guide me than my mind. As my heart guided me it became more and more apparent that my dream was to empower woman.
In the last few days as I have been processing my journey, I have been exploring what it really means to be a woman. This helped clarify why my heart called to women and a sisterhood more than other demographics when developing the ideal people to be a part of this community.

I got some great insights when I explored why I chose to focus on empowering women. There are obviously many differentiators between men and women. As I was working through this process I was reminded how much it rocks to be a woman. While I have great respect for men and absolutely love the role they play in this life, I am grateful I came into this life as a woman. Here are the top reasons why I believe it rocks to be a woman.

1. Women process with their hearts while men process with their minds.

2. Women emotionalize while men analyze.

3. Women feel while men think.

4. Women focus on enjoying the journey and get achievements as a result of finding joy in the journey. Men focus on achievements and results while getting joy in the journey is a side benefit to their achievements.

5. Women are omnipresent energetically while men are linear and focused.

As I review this list, I know exactly why I chose to be a woman in this lifetime and why I chose to create a community, a sisterhood, to bring women together. Although there is a place in this world for both the masculine and feminine roles, this sisterhood is about connecting to the woman within each of us. The woman who process with her heart and with her emotions, the woman who feel her way through things, who is omnipresent and is fueled by the joy found in the journey.

For these reasons and many more it rocks to be a woman!
